Metazoan



Metazoan, in zoology, multicellular animal, member of the group Metazoa, distinguished from single-celled protozoans. With increase in the number of cells comes differentiation of function of cells, tissues, and organs. Many zoologists divide the Metazoa group into sponges (Parazoa) and all other multicelled animals (Eumetazoa).
