Mesabi Range



Mesabi Range, hills in northeastern Minnesota, northwest of Lake Superior from Babbitt to Grand Rapids; highest point is 2,000 ft (610 m). The range is famous for its iron ore deposits, which lie near the surface and have been mined since the 1890s. Mesabi means “hidden giant.”
