Ezra Meeker



Meeker, Ezra (1830–1928), U.S. author and explorer of the Oregon Trail. In 1852, Meeker and his family made an ox-cart journey on the Oregon Trail from Iowa to Portland, Ore. He made the return trip some years later in 1906 and once again by automobile in 1915. His books are Ox-Team Days on the Oregon Trail (1922) and Kate Mulhal (1926). Meeker was the founder of the Oregon Trail Association.
