Thomas McKean



McKean, Thomas (1734–1817), U.S. patriot. He as a signer of the Declaration of Independence and Delaware representative to the Continental Congress (1774–1783). He served as president of the Congress (1781), chief justice of Pennsylvania (1777–99), and governor of Pennsylvania (1799–1808). He also wrote most of the Delaware state constitution.
