Bill Mauldin



Mauldin, Bill (1921– ), U.S. cartoonist. His cartoons of World War II GIs, Willie and Joe, published in the armed forces newspaper Stars and Stripes, became the national embodiment of the American infantrymen. He won the Pulitzer Prize for cartooning in 1945 and 1959. Up Front (1945) and Brass Ring (1971) are 2 of his books of cartoons.
