Matter

Matter, material substance existing in space and time. All matter has inertia, measured quantitatively by its mass and weight, exerting its gravitational pull on other such bodies. There are 3 common states of matter: solid, liquid and gas; scientists consider plasma a fourth. Atoms and molecules make up ordinary matter.
