Bat Masterson

Masterson, Bat (1853–1921), U.S. pioneer and peace officer. He is best known as assistant to Wyatt Earp, a deputy U.S. marshall in Tombstone, Ariz., 1881. Masterson was a deputy marshall in Dodge City, Kans. (1876), sheriff of Ford county (1878–80), and city marshall of Trinidad, Colo. (1882).
