Managua



Managua (pop. 682,000), capital city of Nicaragua, located on the southern shore of Lake Managua. Made capital in 1855 to end a feud between León and Granada, it has been rebuilt on numerous occasions after destruction by earthquakes (1931, 1972) and fires (1931, 1936).
