Mammoth



Mammoth, any of several extinct, prehistoric elephants (genus Mammuthus) found in North America and Eurasia. Distinguishable from today's elephants by their shaggy coats, long, upward-curving tusks, and complex molar teeth, the species included the imperial mammoth of North America, 13.5 ft (4.1 m) high at the shoulder.
