John Lyly



Lyly, John (c.1554–1606), English author best known for his Euphues (The Anatomy of Wit, 1578; Euphues and His England, 1580), a two-part prose romance in a highly artificial and suggestive style. Lyly also wrote elegant comedies on classical themes, influencing other Elizabethan playwrights.
