Logan

Logan (1725?–80?), a leader of the Cayugas during the American colonial period. At first Logan established peaceful relations with white settlers in Pennsylvania and in the Ohio territory, but he led raids on white settlements after members of his family were killed by colonists in 1774. His explanation of his refusal to participate in peace talks was praised by Thomas Jefferson for its eloquence. During the Revolutionary War, Logan aligned himself with the Mohawk auxiliaries of the British forces.
