Loeb, Jacques (1859–1924), German-born U.S. biologist best known for his work on parthenogenesis, especially his induction of artificial parthenogenesis in the eggs of sea urchins and frogs. Parthenogenesis is the process by which an unfertilized egg develops into an embryo.
