Lobster

Lobster, large marine crustacean with 5 pairs of jointed legs, the first bearing enormous claws. True lobsters (genus Homarus) live in shallow water and feed on carrion, small crabs, and worms. The 2 large claws differ in structure and function, one being adapted for crushing, the other for fine picking or scraping. The dark blue pigment of the living lobster is a complex compound that turns red when exposed to intense heat.
