Henry Demarest Lloyd



Lloyd, Henry Demarest (1847–1903), U.S. reforming journalist. He distinguished himself as a muckraker, exposing the misconduct of big business monopolies, notably in his contributions to the Chicago Tribune (1872–85) and his book Wealth Against Commonwealth (1894), a history of the Standard Oil Company. He became an active supporter of the Socialists, and ran for Congress on the National People's Party ticket (1894).
