Live oak



Live oak, any of several species of North American evergreen trees (genus Quercus) of the beech family. The American oak, Q. virginiana, flourishes along the southeastern coast of the United States and is also found in Cuba. It can reach a height of about 50 ft (15 m), and many of its limbs fan out horizontally to form a dense web. Its leaves are dark green and shiny above, whitish and furry below. The live oak is both a timber tree and a popular ornamental tree.
