Lingonberry

Lingonberry, small fruit of an evergreen shrub (Vaccinium vitisidaea), related to the cranberry. A member of the heather family, the lingonberry grows wild in northern North America. The berry is shiny and bright red. As the raw berry is bitter, it is usually cooked into jellies and sauces.
