Limpet

Limpet, mollusk, related to the pond snail, with a conical instead of a spiral shell and a muscular foot that can cling to rocks. Limpets can trap water under their shells to survive even when exposed by the ebbing tide. They can grow as long as 4 in (10 cm), but are usually smaller.
