Trygve Lie



Lie, Trygve (1896–1968), Norwegian political leader, first secretary-general of the United Nations, 1946–53. He incurred Soviet hostility because of his support of UN action in Korea. After leaving office, he returned to Norway, serving in ministerial posts.
