Lever

Lever, simplest type of machine, consisting of a rigid beam supported at a stationary point (the fulcrum) so that a force applied to one point of the beam can shift a load at another point. There are 3 classes of lever: those with the fulcrum between the effort and the load; those with the load between the fulcrum and the effort; and those with the effort between the fulcrum and the load.
