Sugar Ray Leonard

Leonard, Sugar Ray (Ray Charles Leonard; 1956– ), U.S. boxer. He was the Olympic gold medalist in the light welterweight class (Summer Games, 1976), and won the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title (1979) and World Boxing Association (WBA) junior middleweight title (1981). After suffering a detached retina Leonard retired (1982) but staged a comeback, capturing the WBC middleweight title (1987) and WBC super middleweight and light heavyweight titles (1988). He retired again in 1991.
