Lotte Lehmann



Lehmann, Lotte (1888–1976), German-born U.S. soprano. She sang with the Vienna State Opera (1914–38) and in the United States at the Metropolitan (1934–45). Famous for her portrayal of the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, she created roles in other Richard Strauss operas and was a skilled interpreter of lieder.
