Leaning Tower of Pisa

Leaning Tower of Pisa, white marble bell tower, or campanile, in Pisa, Italy. Building was started in 1174, reputedly by Bonanno Pisano, but the foundations were unsound and the 184.5-ft (56-m) tower had already begun to lean by the time of its completion in the 14th century. It now tilts more than 17 ft (5 m) from the perpendicular.
