Stephen Butler Leacock

Leacock, Stephen Butler (1869–1944), Canadian writer, scholar, and humorist. Although he was a distinguished professor of political science and wrote numerous books on political science, economics, history, and literary criticism, he was perhaps best known for his satiric essays and short stories written in dead-pan style. These humorous works were first published in newspapers and magazines and later appeared in collections. In 1946, his unfinished autobiography, The Boy I Left Behind Me, was published posthumously.
