Ernest Lawson

Lawson, Ernest (1873–1939), U.S. impressionist painter. One of the eight members of the Ashcan School, he exhibited at their controversial Armory Show. Seeking a greater degree of naturalism, he specialized in serene landscapes, rendered in glowing colors, such as Winter (1914) and High Bridge (1939).
