Laval



Laval (pop. 284,200), city in Quebec province, southeastern Canada, part of the Montreal metropolitan area. Covering the island called IIe Jésus, 27 mi (43 km) long and 7 mi (11 km) wide, it is separated from Montreal, to the south, by the Des Prairies River, and from the mainland by the Mille Isles River. An amalgam of 6 former cities and 7 towns, Laval was created in 1965.
