Laredo



Laredo (pop. 133,239), city in southern Texas, on the Rio Grande River. Laredo, founded in 1755, is a principal port of entry, with one-half the tourists and 60% of the U.S.-Mexico import-export trade passing through its customs stations. Industries include natural gas production, oil refining, clothing manufacture, agriculture, and ranching.
