Lake of the Woods



Lake of the Woods, lake located mostly in Ontario, Canada along the Minnesota border, with 2 bays reaching into Manitoba. It is 100 mi (160 km) long and 10–50 mi (16–80 km) wide, with an area of 1,485 sq mi (3,846 sq km). Waters from the Rainy River run into the lake from the southeast. The lake is drained in the north by the Winnipeg River, which flows into Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba. At the end of the Revolutionary War it was declared an official boundary. The island-filled lake is now a tourist attraction.
