Lace



Lace, fine openwork decorative fabric made by braiding, looping, knotting, or twisting thread, usually linen or cotton, sometimes silver and gold. Before 19th-century mechanization, it was handmade by needlepoint or with bob-bins. Lace was developed in 16th-century Italy and Flanders.
