Fritz Kreisler



Kreisler, Fritz (1875–1962), Austrian-U.S. violinist. He was an extremely popular performer, known for his elegance of style. A collector of manuscripts of violin music, he published violin pieces of his own composition which he at first attributed to various baroque and classical composers. He composed the operettas Apple Blossom and Sissy as well as numerous violin pieces, including Liebesfreud, Liebesleid, and Caprice. His arrangements of compositions by earlier composers became part of the standard repertoire.
