Koala

Koala, or koala bear (Phascolarctos cinereus), pouched tree-dwelling mammal of eastern Australia. Koalas have thick, gray fur, a black nose, and no tail, and are 2–2½ ft (60–75 cm) long. They eat only eucalyptus leaves. Koalas are marsupials, bearing and nursing their young in a pouch, although unlike must marsupials, they do have a true placenta. The koala has been considered an endangered species.
