Knights and knighthood

Knights and knighthood, part of the feudal system of the Middle Ages in Europe. Knights were mounted and armed sworn defenders of a feudal superior, generally having previously served as page and squire. Chivalry was the code of honor practiced by knights. They were known by their clothing, armor, and participation in tournaments in which they fought each other. The legend of King Arthur is the most famous literary account of knighthood.
