Kinkajou



Kinkajou (Potos flavus), relative of the raccoon that can hang by its tail. It grows up to 3 ft (1 m) long and has short legs and a very long tail covered in soft fur. The kinkajou lives in tropical forests from southern Mexico to Brazil. It moves cautiously through the branches using its tail as an anchor. Although kinkajous are members of the Carnivora (flesh eaters), they eat mainly fruit and a few insects.
