Percy Lavon Julian

Julian, Percy Lavon (1899–1975), U.S. chemist and chemical business executive. He developed several important soybean-based products, including a synthetic progesterone used to prevent miscarriages. He also created physostigmine, a drug used to treat glaucoma.
