Jehoiakim



Jehoiakim, king of Judah (r.c.608–598 B.C.). Son of King Josiah, Jehoiakim was placed on the throne by Necho, the Egyptian pharaoh who defeated Josiah. Jehoiakim later switched his alliance from Necho to the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar II, but then revolted against him. Jehoiakim died under mysterious circumstances during the Babylonian siege of Jerusalem.
