Saint Jean Baptiste de la Salle



Jean Baptiste de la Salle, Saint (1651–1719), French Roman Catholic priest canonized in 1900. He founded the Order of the Christian Brothers, which brought religious instruction to the poor. In the 1680s he established the Institute of Brothers of the Christian School, and other schools were established by his order throughout Western Europe.
