Japanese chin



Japanese chin, or Japanese spaniel, dog native to China. A favorite pet among Japanese royalty for centuries, the species was brought to the United States in the mid-1850s after Commodore Perry's expedition. The dogs have a soft white coat with uniform black or red patches around the face. They weigh about 5–9 lb (2–4 kg).
