Leo Janácek



Janácek, Leo (1854–1928), Czech composer and collector of Moravian folk music, best known for his operas Jenufa (1904), Katia Kabanova (1921), and The Makropulos Case (1926). First professor of composition at the Prague Conservatory (1919), he wrote many songs, as well as chamber and choral works, in particular the Glagolitic Mass (1926).
