Milos Jakes



Jakes, Milos (1922– ), former president of Czechoslovakia (1987–89). A politcally active communist since l945 who studied in Moscow, Jakes was appointed secretary-general of the communist party and president in l987. The weakening of the communist party in l989 and the growth of a reform movement led to his resignation that year.
