Isaac, in the Old Testament (Genesis), second of the Hebrew patriarchs. Son of Abraham and Sarah and half-brother of Ishmael, he was spared at the last moment from being sacrificed as proof of his father's faith. He married Rebecca and fathered Esau and Jacob.
