Indian mallow

Indian mallow (Abutilon theophrastii), weed of the mallow family, a group of dicotyledonous flowering plants. The Indian mallow grows from under 1 ft (30 cm) to over 6 ft (1.8 m) tall, and has orange-yellow flowers. The Indian mallow was given its common name because it originally grew in India, but has also been called velvet leaf and stump weed, the latter because it was once used to stamp designs onto butter.
