Impetigo

Impetigo, superficial skin infection, usually of the face, caused by streptococcus or staphylococcus. It starts with small vesicles that burst and leave a characteristic yellow crust. It is easily spread by fingers from a single vesicle to affect several large areas and may be transmitted to other people. It is common in children and requires antibiotic cream or sometimes systemic penicillin.
