Ides, 15th day of Mar. in the ancient Roman calendar and the day in 44 B.C. on which Julius Caesar was assassinated in the Roman senate. In the Roman calendar, the 15th of Mar., May, July, and Oct. and the 13th of the other months were called the ides.
