Hypochlorous acid



Hypochlorous acid, weak inorganic acid (HOC1) used in bleaches and disinfectants. It is formed when chlorine is combined with water. Used to disinfect public drinking water and swimming pools, hypochlorous acid is also a strong oxidant.
