Hydrogen iodide



Hydrogen iodide, chemical compound (HI) that is a colorless gas with a sharp odor. It fumes when exposed to humid air and combines easily with water to form hydriodic acid. It is used to make iodine salts, as a reducing agent, and for medical purposes in a diluted form.
