Engelbert Humperdinck



Humperdinck, Engelbert (1854–1921), German composer. He was much influenced by Richard Wagner, whom he assisted at the Bayreuth Festival. He wrote several operas; only Hansel and Gretel (1893) is widely performed today, although The Royal Children (1910) is revived from time to time.
