Howler

Howler, monkey (genus Alouatta) named for its low, carrying call. Troops of howler monkeys set up a chorus of howls when they spot another troop near their territory. To produce this call they have a large bony box in the throat, which is a resonating chamber. Howlers are found in forests from southern Mexico to northern Argentina.
