Housing

Housing, any building, or group of buildings, that provide shelter for people. In the United States people live in more than 80 million housing units, which may include single-family homes, condominiums, apartments, hotels, motels, motor homes (trailers), and shelters for the homeless. The production of housing has grown in complexity with the enlarging population and with the advent of city planning, transportation needs, commuter demands, community services, and the desire for safe dwellings.
