Oveta Culp Hobby



Hobby, Oveta Culp (1905– ), U.S. publisher and public servant. Director of the Women's Army Corps (1942–45), she became the first secretary of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare under President Dwight D. Eisenhower (1953–55). She became chairperson of the board of the Houston Post in 1965.
