Hibbing



Hibbing (pop. 18,046), city located in the heart of Minnesota's Mesabi Range. Named after Frank Hibbing, a prominent lumber dealer, the city is often called the “Iron Ore Capital of the World” for the rich deposits lying nearby, discovered in the early 1900s. It has the world's largest open-pit iron mine, a popular tourist attraction.
