Hesperornis



Hesperornis, any of a genus (Hesperornis) of extinct birds that lived in North America during the Cretaceous Period, 60 to 125 million years ago. One species, H. regalis, was nearly 6 ft (1.8 m) long. The hesperornis could not fly with its undeveloped wings, but was a good diver.
